Ini loh Pengalamanku kuliah ke Italy


Perkenalkan, saya Muhammad Najih Amin biasa dipanggil Najih. Saya berasal dari Depok dan sekarang sedang menempuh program Master di Politecnico di Milano jurusan Materials Engineering & Nanotechnology.

Ceritanya….Dulu waktu semester 6 kuliah S1 sudah mulai mencari informasi universitas untuk kuliah di luar negeri dan akhirnya memilih Polimi. Lalu setelah lulus sekitar Agustus tahun lalu langsung daftar saja yang Alhamdulilah, diterima untuk intake Maret tahun ini dengan scholarship dari Polimi langsung.

Setiap calon mahasiswa yang daftar ke Polimi langsung dimasukkan ke seleksi beasiswa ini secara otomatis. Jadi seleksinya hanya berdasarkan nilai S1 dan nilai tes bahasa Inggris (TOEFL/IELTS).Kalau sekarang beasiswa hanya cover tuition fee saja. Saat ini sedang mencoba apply beasiswa lain dan masih menunggu pengumuman.

Persiapan Apply
Dulu mulai persiapan untuk apply waktu masih skripsi S1 termasuk berkas-berkas kuliah seperti transkrip nilai, surat keterangan akan lulus (karena waktu itu belum lulus),essay, motivation letter, recommendation letter dari dosen-dosen, lalu persiapan TOEIC, dll. Selesai apply sekitar pertengahan Agustus lalu baru dapat kepastian pemberian scholarship sekitar awal November. Saat itu saya jadi mepet-mepet deadline untuk pembayaran admission fee-nya.

Tempat Tinggal di Italia
Saya tinggal di daerah Precotto, menyewa shared room dengan mahasiswa dari Tiongkok sejak pertama di sini karena untuk dormyang disediakan oleh universitas tergolong lebih mahal. Untuk shared room ini sewanya kurang lebih 250 Euro per bulan. Fasilitasnya standar saja seperti bed lalu shared kitchen dan bathroom. Tapi mulai bulan depan rencananya akan pindah ke sewa apartemen bersama teman-teman yang baru datang dari Indonesia untuk kuliah juga.

Tentang Kampus
Kalau bicara soal kuliah menurut saya di Polimi ini sudah sangat bagus mulai dari sistem kuliah, lalu dosen serta fasilitas-fasilitas penunjang sudah sangat baik seperti laboratorium-laboratorium yang sangat lengkap untuk setiap jurusannya. Meskipun di mata orang awam mungkin untuk kuliah teknik di Italia itu masih kurang bagus atau semacamnya tapi saya rasa di sini tidak kalah dengan universitas-universitas di negara lain seperti Jerman, Belanda, atau Inggris.

Tips Bergaul di Italia
Menurut saya ya seperti kita kenalan dengan teman di Indonesia saja, tidak terlalu beda pada dasarnya.

Beribadah di Italia
Untuk sholat biasa saya mencari tempat kosong di kampus lalu cukup menggelar sajadah saja begitu. Tapi kalau untuk sholat Jumat ada beberapa masjid walaupun agak jauh dari kampus, kurang lebih 30 menit perjalanan. Yang bikin susah itu kalau ada jadwal kuliah yang bentrok dengan jam sholat Jumat. Jadi biasanya saya skip kuliah karena tidak ada nilai absensi.Rencana Setelah Lulus InsyaAllah kalau lancar saya mau stay dan mencari pengalaman kerja di Eropa dulu untuk beberapa tahun. Saya ingin melanjutkan S3 setelah itu baru kemudian pulang ke Indonesia membangun negeri.

Pengalaman Unik
Yang paling tidak bisa dilupakan tentunya minggu-minggu awal saya ada di sini. Saya mau tidak mau harus berinteraksi dengan warga lokal sehari-harinya, seperti ketika belanja, mengurus izin tinggal, asuransi, dll yang mana saya tidak bisa bahasa Italia saat itu dan mereka tidak bisa bahasa Inggris. Jadilah kita bicara menggunakan bahasa isyarat.

Pesan Untuk Mahasiswa Indonesia yang Ingin Kuliah ke Italia
Yang pertama harus mengumpulkan niat terlebih dahulu, jadi harus yakin dulu  dan jangan setengah-setengah. Yang kedua jangan malu untuk bertanya dengan yang sudah atau sedang kuliah di negara yang dituju. Yang terakhir jangan malas mencari informasi kuliah dan juga beasiswa. Pada dasarnya karena kesempatan banyak sekali dan semua pasti bisa kuliah di luar negeri, jadi harus benar-benar dicari informasinya. Tinggal kita mau mencari informasi dan kesempatan itu atau tidak. Sukses buat semuanya!
